About the author:
Deacon Athanasios (Clint) Sharpley received his B.A. from Hardin Simmons University in 1971 and his Master of Divinity degree from New Orleans Baptist Theological Seminary in 1975. He also studied on the graduate level in philosophy at Tulane University, and in business at the University of Texas at Dallas. He served as senior vice president, investments, at a major Wall Street firm; as a daily radio personality; and as an adjunct professor of business at a local university. All of this ended in 2000, when he was disabled by multiple sclerosis.
Deacon Clint became Orthodox in 2006. After completing the diaconate course through the Antiochian House of Studies, he was ordained to the diaconate in 2011. Deacon Athanasios serves at Holy Trinity Greek Orthodox Church, Dallas, TX.
Mary Diacos Sharpley is married to Deacon Athanasios Sharpley. Mary, a cradle Orthodox, has co-written histories of Annunciation Greek Orthodox Church in Houston, and a history of Holy Trinity Greek Orthodox Church in Dallas. On retirement from a career as a legal assistant, she continues to serve in the Archive Ministry at HTGOC, preserving the history of the church and its people.
