ITEM DESCRIPTION:

*PLEASE READ the MEASUREMENTS – Photos do not show actual size! Have a tape measure handy…I never shop for online jewelry without one. Thank You!

DESIGNER/COMPANY/COUNTRY: Margot van Voorhies, aka “Margot de Taxco” (1896 - 1985): An artist and native of San Francisco, Margot took a vacation to Taxco, Mexico in 1937 which altered the course of her life. In 1938 she met and married Don Antonio Castillo, a Maestro silversmith working for William Spratling. He introduced her to jewelry and silver design and her creations sold so quickly, it prompted Castillo and his brothers to leave Spratling and establish their own taller, Los Castillo. In 1948, Margot and Antonio split both romantically and professionally and she took on the name Margot de Taxco. It wasn’t long before she had Hollywood clientele such as John Wayne & Lana Turner. At one time, she had more than 280 talented silversmiths working for her, some of whom are very famous today. Margot is most known for her work with enamel on silver, pre-Columbian themes, Art Deco and Japanese styles, as well as her use of fish and wave motifs. Sadly, she became insolvent in 1976 and gave her molds to her top silversmiths who went on to establish their own workshops.

~ Ships fully insured via USPS Priority with Signature required. Due to the rise in mail fraud, should the set be returned it will be opened at the post office in front of Federal employees.

CONDITION: Excellent Vintage condition considering the age…very slight wear noticeable upon close inspection. The screw backing has been replaced on one of the earrings, but it is quite secure and well done. Please view all photos to judge for yourself keeping in mind that they’re high def Canon pics which exaggerate any blemishes that may be present.
