Design: about the size of an actual hummingbird, ours is just under 2.5" beak to wingtip, 3" top down including the bail A very nice weight (considering he's all gemstones) at 11.3 grams. Set in sterling silver 925 pure (makers stamp and purity stamp on the solid back). He is three dimensional with a thick look about, rounded body, wings back and fluttering, about 1/8" thick as well.

Gemstones: Firey, flashing colorful opals! Lots of them too! What better way to capture the playful iridescence of the hummer than opal! Not just opal though, there is robin egg blue turquoise, Mother of pearl, carnelian and the most amazing feat: an entire body covered in blue lapis. 

You can tell that it is natural gemstone for if you look VERY closely, you can see the cut inlay marks of the inlaid gemstones. Fake gemstones are a poured composite plastic with no sign of cutting.
