STROMATOLITE'S ARE THE WORLDS OLDEST FOSSILS
This one is between 600 Million and 3.5 Billion Years Old. It is a Pre Cambrian age Stromatolite from Morocco
Stromatolite's are the worlds oldest fossils. Stromatolite (literally, 'layered
rock') are solid structures created by single-celled microbes called
cyanobacteria (blue-green algae). The cyanobacteria form colonies and trap
sediment with their sticky surface coatings. The trapped sediment reacts to
calcium carbonate in the water to form limestone Stromatolite's.
