I apologize for my terrible photography.  This piece, especially being under glass, was SO HARD to photograph.  My pictures do not do it justice.  It is antique, and really shows it's antique beauty - just not in my photos. It is a TRUE Bohemian piece of Folk Art!  It was hand made with lots of love, in a time of extreme danger in Hungary.

This is such an amazing piece of antique folk art.  It is easy to date, as the previous owner made notes on the back.  I love the note that says "DO NOT REMOVE" back.  So of course, someone did.  I don't know what they found, lol.  The piece is signed, but I can't tell by whom.  It is dated Mothers Day May 1919, and says "Where we were married".

Notes on Hungary from the Internet:

"In March 1919, the republic was overturned by another revolution, and the Hungarian Soviet Republic was created. Unresolved conflicts led to wars between Hungary and its neighbor states (Kingdom of Romania, Kingdom of Serbs, Croats and Slovenes and the evolving Czechoslovakia) in 1919."

There is a note on the back that says "When in danger God be with me God we trust".  I think there might have been documents or letters under the piece on the back.  Whatever was there, isn't there now.

The back cardboard is quite aged, and becoming fragile.  The wood frame is also fragile, with faded gilt.  The picture itself is embroidery in what was originally bright gold and red, but are now faded.  The celluloid piece is heavily embossed; a picture of God the Father, God the Son and God the Holy Ghost.

It is quite a piece, carrying lots of emotion and history.

It is a nice size, measuring 17" by 14".  It is heavy, and under glass.
