25mm Sopelem Monital f0.95 lens, made in France.

A rather strange and slightly mysterious lens!

I do not know which camera this was initially designed for but it features a C-mount which means I have used it on my 16mm Bolex film camera and also on digital cameras (Red Komodo & Blackmagic P4K) with a c-mount adapter.

It is a high resolving lens with the ability to create very blurred backgrounds and to gather lots of light in dark environments.

The lens is clearly a fixed focus prime as there is no focus ring, however I have been able to adjust focus by screwing and unscrewing the lens slightly. A longer term solution for this would be to either use a bellows or even engineer a helical thread which permits it.

The main draw of this lens is of course the very wide maximum aperture of f0.95 which is where I am using this lens most of the time.

The aperture is adjusted by means of an internal motor but can also be adjusted manually. (Again one would either need to engineer a manual mechanism, use an electronic solution or do as I have done and just remove the front and change it manually!)

The lens has a triangular aperture (interesting creative choice seen on the early superspeeds) which is what initially drew me to this lens.

Overall it's an interesting lens which I've used to good effect but am now looking to sell for someone else to have some fun with!

I removed the internal motor and electronics because I was not using them, however they are all included and I can reinstall if desired.
