The Tarantula is an original analog octave up effect. It is not based on any preexisting octave effects. The Tarantula's unique, fine-tuned circuitry creates a plucky, high-pitched tone reminiscent of a banjo or sitar (or a number of other instruments depending on how you play with it). The octave sound is most pronounced with neck pickups and around the 12th fret. However, the Tarantula is much more responsive to different pickup positions and lower notes than other popular octave effects. Knobs for gain, octave level, tone, and volume enable fine-tuning, so you can reign in or crank up the nastiness as you please.
