Here's a really nice, fully restored Porsche 914 DVDA distributor. This distributor went through the full restoration process. It was fully disassembled with all parts being cleaned in an industrial parts cleaner. Post cleaning, all parts were inspected and measured.
New fiber washers were installed. The body was media blasted with a fine media to remove stains/oxidation. It leaves the finish looking new.
All the external steel parts were stripped of their remaining zinc coating. They were the re-bright zinc plated for years of corrosion resistance. The advance weight springs, weights and points pivot plate tension clip were also zinc plated and some were then dipped in a black chromate.
The trigger points were closely inspected and reset to spec with a special tool. They were then cleaned and lubricated.
Post restoration, I installed a brand new NOS points pivot plate, NOS Bosch German points, a Bosch condenser, an NOS German Bosch distributor cap and new rotor. An original dust cap was installed as well.
Also installed was a very rare and expensive, and correct 601 NOS German Bosch DVDA vacuum canister.
I tested the distributor on my Sun distributor machine. It was right in spec. The NOS German Bosch 601 DVDA canister was also in spec.
