AKA Little Dragonfish,
The seamoths make up a family of fishes, the Pegasidae, They are named after Pegasus, a winged-horse from Greek mythology. Notable for their unusual appearance, including flattened bodies, a pair of large, wing-like pectoral fins, a long snout and a body encased in thick, bony plates. As bottom dwellers, they have modified pelvic fins which allow them to walk across the seafloor with mouths resembling a tube to suck worms and other small invertebrates from their burrows. They are found primarily in coastal tropical waters of the Indo-Pacific.
This specimen has the whole skeleton structure along with all the outside boney spiky armour that works as an exoskeleton. Magnet mounted (removable) from the vintage Victorian frame.
