Roshield 1x External Rat Bait Boxes & 15x Wax Block Killer Pro Pest Control Kit

Roshield box with bromadiolone blocks

1x Roshield Bait Station & Wax Block Kit

Kit for the control of rats and mice in and around buildings

Combination rodenticide kit including our popular poison wax blocks and a tamper-resistant bait station for the safe treatment of rats and house mice within and around buildings.

Complies with the new regulations for the safe use of rodenticide, our kit is easy to use and can quickly control an established infestation regardless of the situation. The boxes, once baited, can be applied to any external environment (but within proximity of a building), under flooring and other enclosed locations including attic spaces.

The wax blocks can be inserted directly onto the included rod within the bait station, which in turn prevents spillage of the rodenticide and potential risk to non-target animals.

This listing includes:

  • 300g Roshield wax bait blocks (15 x 20g)
  • 1x Tamper-resistant bait station
  • Bait rod, bait divider and rod pack
  • Instructions

Our blocks are ready-for-use for the control of rats and house mice. Our bait has been formulated using high-quality culinary grade wheat flour, blended with chopped wheat, other cereals and proteins which are bound together by edible waxes.

The addition of other food-grade materials improves palatability compared to other extruded or cast blocks, ensuring excellent bait take. The incorporation of bio-stats inhibits the growth of both fungi and bacteria should the block be exposed to damp/sewer conditions. Roshield blocks also contain an aroma, giving a unique chocolatey smell.

Roshield rodenticide products are manufactured in the UK using materials sourced from British farmers. Our tamper-resistant bait station is made directly from recycled materials sourced from old car bumpers and dashboards.

Every packet of 300g contains 15 x 20g bromadiolone blocks. Place the individual blocks into an appropriate tamper-resistant bait station.

Other than the bait rod, the box and lock contain no metal parts with the intention that it can remain in an external environment all year round.

How to use your Roshield bait box (with rodenticide or traps)

Please see the above information as to the contents included within this kit listing. Not all our kits include rodenticide or traps.

Before undertaking any rodenticide or trap control, it is important to carry out a risk assessment to highlight any hazards that may be an issue throughout the control period. Take particular note of any pets or non-target access that may be active within the area of control. When required, please take all necessary steps to prevent access, including the relocation of the box to a better location, tethering the box to a fixed item or covering it with heavy materials to limited access.

Boxes should be installed as close as possible to the rodents main food source or habitation area; however, boxes should not be placed directly in the open away from buildings. The ideal location would be against walls or sheds adjacent to their main environment. If baiting around chickens, keep the boxes to the external part of the fencing.

Several boxes may be required to control an infestation, and they should be placed in spread-out locations depending on the size and location of the activity. For best practice, place some boxes near the feed sites, and others close the habitation area.

To successfully control rodents, it is critically important that their main food source is identified and controlled. For example, if they are around a bird feeder, stop feeding the birds. If you have chickens add hoppers to control spillage.

Rodenticide:

For wheat, insert 1 packet of wheat into the bait station, either via piercing the bag and placing it onto the enclosed bait rod or, if you prefer to use the box's lid to clamp the bag down once closed. We recommend 1 x 150g sachet per box. Check to make sure that the rodenticide is clearly fixed within the box before closing the lid.

For blocks or pasta sachets, we recommend placing several units by threading them directly onto the provided bait rod, within the range of 150g-200g would be adequate. Close the lid making sure that the contents and secure and won't escape.

Rodents can take a while to accept box stations, so we recommend 3-4 days before initially checking the box and then every 2-4 days, depending on the consumption of the bait. It is important to continue baiting until no further activity is observed.

Traps:

Installing the trap is straightforward, and we recommend reading our instructions fully or watching one of our guidance videos. The trap should be baited with a sticky substance such as our attractant bait, peanut butter or chocolate spread. Bait the central trap cup, trigger flap and external locations around the box as this will help with trap acceptance. Set the trap with caution, making sure that no fingers are within the kill zone.

Rodents can take a while to accept the box station and the trap inside, so we recommend 3-4 days before initially checking the box and then every day subject to success. It is not advisable to leave a dead rodent within the trap to decay as this can leave negative signs to other rats.

Continue to observe the trap until no further activity is observed. Also, make sure that the bait remains inside the trap as it can be prone to smaller animals such as slugs and mice that can remove the bait without setting off the trigger. Salt at the base of the trap will help prevent this.

Important rodenticide information

Please always read and follow the instructions on the rear of the packaging at all times and keep pets, children and non-target animals away from rodenticides.

It is a legal requirement for amateur users to use rodenticide bait within tamper-resistant bait box stations, regardless of the treatment location.

The amount of product required to control an infestation will vary depending on the size of the population and the availability of other food sources. Therefore, we cannot guarantee that a single packet or kit will control an established infestation. In addition, larger populations will always require a larger qty of bait; an additional purchase of rodenticide bait may be necessary.

When controlling brown rats or house mice, the most common issue is users under-baiting an infestation. A small amount of rodenticide to control a larger population can result in continuous activity over a long period, bait shyness from a sub-lethal dosage and in extreme cases, resistance to the active ingredients. Whilst it can be challenging to predict the qty required, the average infestation is likely to need between 600g-1kg for brown rats and 150g-300g for house mice. Therefore, treating a farm will likely require a significantly higher bait than a small population in domestic premises.

Rodenticide resistance is a small but growing issue in some areas of the UK, particularly in Reading, Bolton & Edinburgh. The RRAC (Rodenticide Resistance Action Committee) makes a handy resistance map available to inform users of any potential resistance issue. We recommend some research to find out if you live in a known location. We recommend using our Roshield Brodifacoum blocks or ProPest wheat if you are in a resistance area. There is no known resistance; however, this type of bait should only be used as the last option toxicity via secondary poisoning and can complicate any treatments if under-baited. The majority of treatments are successful with difenacoum or bromadiolone, which should be used as the first step in control.

The courier may leave packages containing rodenticide in open porches or posted through letterboxes. Any animals, children or other unauthorised persons mustn't have access to the package on the day of delivery. Please do not order if you cannot be present to receive the package. All packages are sent via a tracked service, and the reference will be uploaded and attached to the order. The majority of services also offer an SMS or email notification alert within an expected time of arrival, so we recommend that your details within your account are up to date; however, we cannot guarantee that this service will be used.

Additional guidance instructions are provided on using Roshield products or can be downloaded via our website. In addition, instructions are available on request in several other languages, including French, German, Dutch, Italian, Spanish, Swedish, Bengali and Chinese.

If you doubt the qty of bait or the required treatment, please contact us or a qualified professional for additional advice.

Rats and mice are associated with a high number of bacteria and viruses, so it is essential to undertake the necessary precautions to protect your health before and after treatment. We sell various products, including our popular Roshield Sanitiser & Cleaner Spray, to clean areas associated with rodents.

Lastly, any proofing works must be undertaken to prevent rodents from re-gaining access. Proofing for brown rats should be straightforward as their holes can be more noticeable and more accessible to proof. A common access point within domestic premises is via the drainage, in which a guard can be fitted to stop further ingress. House mice can be more difficult, if not impossible, so we recommend that users prove any obvious holes internally and externally. Fort Products has several options for proofing.

Fort Products Limited Staff

About Fort Products

Fort Products Limited is an established pest control and remedial retailer specialising in amateur and professional kits designed to control a wide range of issues from rodent infestations to damp proofing. We have been established on eBay since 2003 and are the leading brand for pest control related products with over 100,000 positive reviews on eBay.

Our background started in 1996 by Craig who trained as a pest controller dealing with a wide range of infestations in numerous, and sometimes, complicated environments. Whilst the principle of pest control can be straight forward in reality every treatment can be unique and challenging, and certainly a job that evolves with experience. Craig formed his own service-related company in 2002 and quickly adapted to selling products online as the company starting growing. In 2003 we created our eBay marketplace shop selling a range of products, alongside the service side of the business.

In 2014 we decided to concentrate wholeheartedly on the supply side of the business, which included investing in products and kits that would be suitable for customers both from an amateur and professional perspective.

Our focus going forward is to concentrate on supplying products manufactured in the UK using products with an original British source or from a recycled product. An example would be our rodenticide baits that are sourced from cereals grown in the UK or our Roshield Baiter box that is produced from recycled plastics obtained from car dashboards and bumpers. Of course, some of our products are shipped from abroad, such as our rat traps, however, we do try to minimise and reassess regularly for alternative options.

Our long-term and future aim it to be carbon neutral and we are currently taking several steps to comply including the use of recycled materials throughout the packaging stages.

Fort Products Limited are BASIS approved and can legally sell professional rodenticide, subject to the customer can provide the necessary documents.

Fort Products Brands Include:

  • Roshield - Rodenticide and trap products for the control of rats, mice and squirrels.
