2 Decorative 10” Steel Strap Hinges USA Made Blacksmith Hand-Forged

This listing is for a pair of decorative 10” strap hinges handcrafted by the blacksmiths of Brandywine Valley Forge in Royersford, Pennsylvania.  These new, American made faux strap hinges are made from 3/16” thick milled steel and weigh about 1 lb., 2 oz. for the pair.  The Model No. 701-N-10 decorative strap hinges are made by hammering out a hinge blank resulting in subtle curved lines rather than the harsh straight lines of a machine cut hinge.  It also allows the blacksmith to hammer hand forged beveled edges along the length of the hinge.  The bevel spreads the width slightly and accentuates the un-straightness of the hinge.  This results in a very nice, forged texture along the length of the hinge.  Measuring approximately 10” long by 1 ¾” wide, these hand-forged exterior faux hinges are finished with a semi-gloss black electro-deposition coating, an automotive industrial finish used on under-car parts like alternator brackets and trailer hitches – metal pieces that are subjected to the harshest environments.  These are not working hinges.
