DC Comics original color guide artwork, circa 1995

This is an original DC Comics hand colored color guide page used in the production of the Batman: Shadow of the Bat series! This is the only color guide of this page in existence. It was used in the production of the actual published comic book by DC. This story featured Batman Catwoman and Cat Man, the entire story is painted in moody watercolors that recall the Golden Age Batman! Great vintage artwork, from a kinder, gentler time!

Note: This issue's colorist used masking tape around all four borders of each page.

Color guide artwork is different from black and white original art, and is extremely collectible. Original color guides (aka colorist's artwork) are re-sized copies of the original pencil and ink artwork that are meticulously hand colored by the colorist, to be used as a legend for the printer. Color guides are similar in size to the published comic book, and some have "color codes" for the printers to follow.

Nowadays, modern comic book colorists create guides via computer using digital files, making the surviving physical color guide pages highly sought after. For many of us, color guides represent an affordable way to collect original artwork from our favorite titles and artists!

CONDITIONThis original color guide page is in FINE condition. The page shows edge/handling wear consistent with age. Unrestored.
NOTE: The photo shows the art page in a protective sleeve. Forgive the glare!
