Busicon contrarium ist neben den anderen Arten ihrer Gattung als Besonderheit im Reich der Mollusken linksgewendelt, was ihr auch den Namen linksgedrehte Wellhornschnecke einbrachte. Die Art lebt in der Gezeitenzone und hier gerne im Bereich von Flussmündungen. Ihr Verbreitungsgebiet reicht von New Jersey im Norden bis in den Golf von Mexiko im Süden. Das Exemplar ist am Mundrand beschliffen und die Knoten auf dem letzten Umgang sind teilweise abgerollt.

The species lives in the intertidal zone and likes to live in the area of estuaries. Their range extends from New Jersey in the north to the Gulf of Mexico in the south. The specimen is ground at the mouth edge and the knots on the last whorl are partially unrolled.
