Antique 20th Century Chinese Multicolored Alms Bowl

Alms or alms giving involves giving to others as an act of virtue, either materially or in the sense of providing capabilities (e.g. education) free. It exists in a number of religions and cultures.

This is an antique 20th century Chinese multicolored alms bowl probably manufactured in the period between 1912-1949 which corresponds to the proclamation of the Republic of China in 1912 until 1949, when the People's Republic of China was proclaimed.

The Republic of China was a sovereign state based in mainland China between 1912 and 1949, prior to the relocation of its government to the island of Taiwan. It was established on 1 January 1912 after the Xinhai Revolution, which overthrew the Qing dynasty, the last imperial dynasty of China.
