This Black Forest bear bench was hand-carved out of solid wood with exquisite detail in southern Germany circa 1900 using wood from the Black Forest. This bench is in excellent original condition with consistent age-related wear.
Two endearing bears are depicted holding the bench with their paws. The bench as a whole illustrates the Black Forest with each individually hand-carved leaf, branch, and bear. Due to the mastery exhibited in each piece, black forest furniture became both inspiring and influential for modern wood carving.
