Bean Climbing - Lazy Housewife - 15 seeds

Phaseolus vulgaris

Happy Valley Seeds' bean product range exudes excitement and has well-named varieties. One such variety is Lazy Housewife, dating back to 1885, with its delicious flavour and ability to grow as a climbing bean. Unlike other beans, destringing is unnecessary, leading to its name. The young stringless pods can be cooked whole with little preparation, or the shelled beans can be saved when ripe. Young pods taste buttery, while dried beans have a creamier and heavier flavour.

Sow in spring (after frost) and early summer at 20-40mm deep, 15cm apart. Soak seeds for a few hours. Germination in 5-10 days at 18-28°C. Maturity 75-80 days.
