In live performance and recording, the "phase" of a sound is very important. When signals of the same frequency and phase are added, the signal level increases. Conversely, adding signals of the opposite phase at the same frequency will cause the signals to cancel each other out and the signal level will drop. Because of this characteristic, the standard is to output the guitar or bass sound in the same phase as the drum kick to prevent the sounds from canceling each other out. However, depending on the combination of effectors or amp channels, they may be output in opposite phases, unintentionally causing the sounds to cancel each other out. There are cases where the reverse phase is used to create a sound, such as with a wah or compressor, so it does not necessarily mean that the reverse phase is bad. By understanding the phase and controlling whether it is positive or reverse phase, it is possible to create sounds at an even higher level.

PHASE ANALYZER can be used in conjunction with the ARC-4 to easily determine whether the current effects pedal combination is in phase or out of phase. The ARC-4 has a phase invert function that inverts the phase of the signal so that the reverse phase is the positive phase or the positive phase is the reverse phase.

Use PHASE ANALYZER to understand the phase of your sound and experience a world of sound creation that goes one step further.

Features

PHASE ANALYZER offers two types of phase measurement.

Repeat measurement mode: Analyzes a test signal that has passed through the device to determine whether it is in forward or reverse phase. It can measure the phase of not only general analog effectors, but also effectors that use delay elements such as phasers, chorus, delays, etc., and effectors that use AD/DA converters, DSPs, etc., and generate delays in their output.

Continuous measurement mode: Phase analysis is performed by comparing the waveform of the same timing time as the output test signal.

When the ARC-4 is used in combination with the RC-7 cable (sold separately), the signal level input to or output from the ARC-4 can be displayed.

The waveform of the input signal can be displayed on the main unit's display.

The ARC-4 is compatible with external power supplies ranging from 9VDC to 12VDC and 9V batteries.
