It originates from India, but it can be found all over southeastern Asia today. Bael thrives in all climates and on all types of soil. It has been used in the human diet and folk medicine for at least 5,000 years. Bael is often cultivated near temples because it represents a sacred tree in Hinduism.
Bel fruit, (Aegle Marmelos), bel also spelled bael, also called Bengal quince, tree of the family Rutaceae, cultivated for its fruit. The plant is native to India and Bangladesh and has naturalised throughout much of Southeast Asia.
The unripe fruit, sliced and sun-dried, is traditionally used as a remedy for dysentery and other digestive ailments. The ripe fruit is sweet, aromatic, and cooling. The tree’s wood is yellowish-white and hard but not durable. Bears have strong spines and alternate compounds left with three leaflets.
The sweet-scented white flowers are borne in panicle clusters and are sometimes used in perfumes. The fruit is pyriform (pear-shaped) and oblong in shape and 5–25 cm (2–10 inches) in diameter. It has a very hard woody grey or yellow rind and sweet, thick, orange-coloured pulp.

How To Plant
The First Method
1. Sow seeds 3-5mm deep into small pots of well draining,humus rich soil and sand mix or lay on top of soil and

4. watering only as top layer of soil begins to dry!

The Second Method
1. Keep warm or indoors for entire germination process

3. Seeds should germinate after 3-8 weeks.
The Third Method
1. Once sprouted, continue to keep in a warm, sunny position.
2. Start to remove glass/plastic wrap to allow seedlings to adapt to.
3. outside environment. May be re-potted if needed once at least two true leaves.
4. have grown. Keep in pots until strong enough to plant out and definitely after first winter has passed.
The Fourth Method
1. Transplant to final position after last frost.
2. Once established, will survive cold and not require much watering.

6. grow to around the same size as a grapefruit.
