Description:

Smena-8M is a Soviet scale camera produced by the LOMO association (Three Orders of Lenin Leningrad Optical and Mechanical Association named after V. I. Lenin) from 1970 to 1990.

"Smena-8M" is considered the most massive camera in the world, the total production of which, together with the previous model "Smena-8", exceeded 21 million copies. According to some sources, a more accurate number is 21,041,191 pieces (through 1995).

Index "8M" received the model "Smena-9" in a modified case. The main difference was the appearance of weather symbols on the exposure scale and scene symbols on the meter scale, which made it easier to choose the exposure and focus. It became possible to determine the distance by the size of the plan: “single portrait”, “double portrait”, “group shot” and “landscape”.

In the 1990s, the Smena-8M was replaced by the Smena-35 model in a more modern body and with an improved viewfinder.
