Created from an original watercolor by Steve Hanks. Published by Leslie Levy Publishing in 1987. Very low inventory .

Few artists could duplicate the emotional depth which Steve Hanks achieved in his watercolors. Each painting was meticulously drawn with great attention to detail. A product of the turbulent sixties, his artistic vision began with hard-edged caricatures, moved through the artistic fads of the day and finally to a quiet celebration of the world around him.

Hanks was first and foremost, a figurative painter. His paintings, formed by his own varied life experiences, held a universal quality which intrigued our senses with what the artist termed "moments of introspective solitude."

Jurors, galleries and collectors have long recognized the stature of Steve Hanks' achievements. He received the National Watercolor Society Merit Award, a Gold Medal from the National Academy of Western Art and was an invited participant in the Prix de West show at the National Cowboy and Western Heritage Museum.  In addition to consistently appearing in the list of top ten American artists compiled by U.S. Art Magazine, the National Art for the Parks Competition honored his work with many awards.

We are  proud to have been one of Steve Hanks' first art galleries.  Beginning in the early 1980's, we represented this exceptional artist, sponsoring many one man exhibitions of his beautiful paintings.  We were also the original publisher of his posters and limited edition prints.

"I've tried to be responsible and put positive images out into the world," said Hanks. "I hope that my work brings comfort, pleasure and insight into people's lives."
