Oberschutze Rank Star Army on Green cloth

Description

German Army Tropical Oberschutze Rank Star on Green Cotton.

In September 1936, the newly formalised Wehrmacht Heer introduced a new ranking system to their new armed forces. In the new ranking was the Obershutze rank arm patch.

Throughout the war the patch underwent several changes, starting off being made on a field grey wool, then issued on a dark green/ bluish wool base and then finally in 1940 the base colour was to match that of the tunic e.g. black for Panzer, blue/ grey for Luftwaffe, even tan and olive for soldiers serving in tropical climates. The placement for that patch was on the left bicep.

This particular patch can be worn as a 3rd pattern star for mid-late war impressions on the Tropical Afrika Korps (DAK) tunics.

Made from olive cotton with a light blue embroidered cotton thread rank star finished with a green stitched border.
