This is a lovely old school set of Italian made salt shaker and pepper grinder. 

If you are looking to add a touch of old to your modern kitchen, you won't find anything more fitting than these silver plated age old antiques. I've seen these Acciaio Garantito salt shakers and pepper grinders here and there in the online resale world, however - they are ALWAYS polished. In my opinion, if you polish these pieces, you lose decades upon decades of natural beauty. I purchased this set at an antique store in (quite fittingly) the oldest town in the United States - St. Augustine, Florida. I came across the set at a local antique store there, and was immediately struck by the stunning oxidization that had been allowed to occur without the interruption of a silver polish and polishing cloth. I prefer a more modern aesthetic in the home, but find that "modern" is most perfectly paired with a touch of old. This sat adds beautiful depth and character to the kitchen setting. 

As mentioned, the pieces have never been polished. I do know that if one did prefer a bright, radiant silver look - this could easily be accomplished with just a few minutes time and a silver restoring solution. Again, the selling point on this set, what I believe makes them so unique, is the natural oxidization of the silver. Therefor, I won't be polishing myself - and have left the decision up to the new owner. 

Both the salt shaker and pepper grinder are totally functional. No dents, deep scratches, etc. They are in truly beautiful shape. 

The bottom of the pepper grinder is inscribed "Acciaio Garantito" - signifying the set's Italian maker. 

Also hallmarked to show their silver plated composition. 

~Overall, if you want that touch of "rugged" old school in your otherwise pristine, modern home/apartment - this is the perfect addition. I HIGHLY encourage you to do your research and look for examples of this Italian set. You won't find many (if any) currently listed. Those you do come across will be past sold, and you will notice that they are polished to a gleam, rather than naturally and beautifully aged!
