The TD-17 is a new standard model of V-Drums sound source for high-quality home practice with rich drum expression and a variety of tools to support effective practice. In addition to the sound engine of the V-Drums flagship TD-50, the TD-50 delivers a performance feel and expressiveness similar to acoustic drums, and features a sound edit function and a user sample function that allows users to import and play audio files, all of which are unique to V-Drums. In addition, the V-Drums also offers a full range of support tools to motivate daily practice, such as Coach Mode, a practice support function, and wireless connectivity with a smartphone via Bluetooth®.

Inheriting the sound engine of the TD-50, the flagship of the V-Drums lineup, this model delivers rich expressiveness similar to that of acoustic drums.

Rich sound and comfortable playing feel, just like acoustic drums

The TD-17 inherits the Prismatic Sound Modeling technology of the professional flagship TD-50. This unique technology uses digital technology to virtually synthesize and pronounce the parts that make up a drum, reproducing the sound behavior of the drum, including the resonance produced by the various parts such as the head, shell, and snare snappers. It produces raw, rich-sounding drum sounds with a wide range of dynamics, from delicate sounds to powerful sounds. The sound accurately reflects a variety of unique drum techniques, such as the half-opening of the hi-hat, the bow/edge strumming, and the natural tonal changes that occur when the cymbals are struck in rapid succession. The rich expressiveness unique to drums provides a comfortable playing feel.

Coach Mode for improving basic drumming skills

The foundation of drumming, which is the foundation of band performance, is to keep a steady beat and tempo. The TD-17 is equipped with a coach mode that provides powerful support for daily practice. You can select menus and difficulty levels according to your skills and objectives, and the score and accuracy percentage of your practice results are displayed to help you monitor your progress. You can also track your progress by seeing your score and accuracy percentage.

■Time Check

Check whether you are hitting the pads at the correct timing to the click. The timing of your pad tapping is displayed on the screen, indicating whether it is faster or slower than the click. This is a basic practice menu for accurate beat tapping.

■Quiet Count

A click is played for the first few bars, and then the next few bars, the click sound is almost muffled. The next few bars, the clicks are almost muffled, and you are checked to see if you can keep the rhythm during the muffled period. This is a menu to cultivate the power of "internal metronome" to memorize tempo with the body.

Warm-up

This is a practice menu that combines three types of exercises: "Change Up," in which the rhythm is repeated, starting with half notes, gradually becoming finer every two measures, and then gradually returning to half notes; "Auto Up/Down," in which the tempo is gradually raised and lowered; and "Time Check," in which you tap along with the clicks. The three practice menus are "Change Up", "Auto Up/Down", and "Time Check". It is possible to set the tempo and select from three courses (5, 10, or 15 minutes).

Enjoy practicing with the Bluetooth function that allows wireless connection to a smartphone

The TD-17 is equipped with Bluetooth functionality. By wirelessly connecting a mobile device such as a smartphone or tablet to the TD-17, you can play music stored on the mobile device or video clips from the Internet on the amp or headphones along with your drum performance. This makes drum practice much more enjoyable and effective, not only with your favorite songs, but also by playing along with recordings made during band rehearsals or videos of drum lessons. The TD-17 is also equipped with a tray for placing a smartphone. This is useful when playing while watching lesson videos.

Recording function to objectively grasp your own performance

To objectively grasp your own performance is a shortcut to an ideal performance, the TD-17 is equipped with a recording function to an SD card (sold separately), which also supports playback of audio data (WAV, MP3) of songs stored on the SD card, and can record the song and drum performance, or only the drum performance, if you played along with the song. It is possible to record only the performance. Recording your own performance along with the song will help you get an idea of what you will be playing in the band.

Built-in drum kit voices that match various genres

The TD-17 has 50 built-in drum kit tones inspired by professional sets used in live performances and recordings. Starting with "Acoustic," which features the warm sound of a wooden shell, "Compact," which has a tight sound with a smaller bore, "Arena Stage," which reproduces the sound of a live performance in an arena-class venue, "Studio," which is ideal for recording, and the assertive and rich sounding "Fat Rock" and "Speed Metal. The built-in drum kits for various playing styles and genres, such as "Fat Rock" and "Speed Metal," are designed for a wide variety of playing styles and genres.

Ambience can reproduce the sound of a live performance

Ambience adds the natural and realistic reverberation characteristic of drums. By adjusting the type and size of the room, you can simulate the reverberation of a live music club and practice with the sound of an actual live performance without leaving the comfort of your home.

Customize the sound to your liking

The TD-17 is equipped with a layer function that allows you to layer tones to add attack and reverb to the snare, for example. The TD-17 also features tuning and muffling settings, pad EQ, and multiple effects for professional sound creation.

User sample function for importing and playing audio files

The TD-17 is equipped with a user sample function that allows users to import audio files (WAV) and play them live to reproduce the sounds used for recording. The TD-17 can also be layered with the built-in voices. This allows you to create a more aggressive sound by importing a one-shot drum tone, or play an audio file of a voice or phrase, further expanding the range of your performance.

Connect to a computer with a single USB cable for practice and music production

MIDI and audio can be sent and received by connecting to a computer with a single USB cable. This allows you to use the "Melodics for V-Drums" application, which allows you to practice while enjoying the game-like experience, or to input performance data for drum parts using music production software (DAW), further expanding the fun of drum performance.
