The
story, of course, is that the four books (consisting of RAGE, ROADWORK,
THE RUNNING MAN, and THE LONG WALK) were originally published as
paperback originals (PBO's) under the Richard Bachman pseudonym. THE
BACHMAN BOOKS is the first hardcover edition of each of the four titles.
Buyer
beware: this book was reprinted many times in this exact hardcover
format. Also, this book was reprinted in a Book-Of-The-Month-Club
edition that is quite similar to the trade edition. There was also a
trade paperback printing that may have been simultaneous with the 1st
hardcover edition. Again, buyer beware: there are at least half a dozen copies of THE BACHMAN BOOKS that are presented as 1st editions that are not 1st editions (1st printings). The number line has to be 1 2 3 4 5 6 7 8 9 10 on the copyright page and the dust jacket has to have a price of $19.95 on front flap of the dust jacket. If the number lines isn't as I describe above and if there is no price on the front flap of the dust jacket, then the book is either a later printing or is a book club edition. This is the real deal: my copy is the true 1st edition, 1st
printing.
