Steer Skull w/ Horns Figure

*Made In USA.

-Textured & highly detailed. Nice color. Red Mill Mfg sticker on bottom. 

-Measures 5 1/4" long x 5 1/2" wide x 1 3/4" tall.

-Material: Molded from Crushed Pecan Shells & a Resin mixture.

-Date: 1990's (1994).

-Excellent vintage condition. Ready to display.

*The Red Mill Manufacturing Company was a company based out of Fishersville, VA. They produced a wide variety of animal (Bear, Horses, Cougars, Deer, Birds, Eagles, etc) & human (Cowboys, Indian, Policemen, Firemen, Soldiers, etc) figurines/statues in various sizes. Most were inscribed with the company name & year (some had the artist signature as well), and they had a gold foil sticker on the bottom.

The figurines are molded from crushed pecan shells & a resin mixture. Local artists created the sculptures used to create the molds. When the figurines were removed from the molds, they were rubbed down with a soft cloth to enhance the patina. The amount & color of the pecan shells produced a variety of reddish brown tones. A small amount of off-white samples were also made & are very desirable to collectors.

The Red Mill Manufacturing Company closed in 2001 due to the sudden death of one of its owners. The molds were sold to a company in China & recasts started being made & marketed under the name Red Mill Craft Company. Those figurines are not nearly as high quality & are not made from crushed pecan shells.
