Nixie clock shows time in HH:MM format on 4 Z560M vintage nixie tubes.
These are beautiful, highest quality, made in Germany nixie tubes
with nicely shaped numerals and proper "5" digit.
Tubes come from new old stock, which guarantees their long operation.
Clock case is made from CNC machined aluminum
painted with metallic green lacquer and acrylic enclosure.
Each clock is carefully assembled by hand from high quality parts
and tested before shipping to ensure long reliable operation.

About nixie tubes:

Nixie tubes are Cold War era vintage displays that were produced in former Soviet Union.
Nixie tubes were the very first fully electrical numeric displays developed in mid 50's.
Nixie displays utilize phenomenon of glow discharge of neon gas surrounding numerical like shaped cathodes.
During Cold War era nixie tubes were commonly used in first computers and measuring devices.
In late 80's nixie tubes were supplanted by more modern LED, VFD and LCD displays.
In post Soviet Union states nixie tubes were still being produced till late 90's.
New old stock nixie tubes (NOS) can be still found in old military surplus warehouses.
Nowadays nixie tubes are once again revived in unique retro style clocks which bring memories of Cold War era.
Because of this nixie clocks are becoming increasingly popular among steampunk, retro, vintage items enthusiasts.
