Owain Glyndŵr was the last native Welshman to be crowned Prince of Wales.   He is remembered for leading rebellions against English rule in north and mid-Wales at the beginning of the 15th century, before his mysterious disappearance in 1412.

Following his death around 1415, Owain Glyndŵr acquired somewhat of a mythical status, as it was believed that he would one day return to liberate the people of Wales.

He is celebrated on Owain Glyndŵr Day, held annually on September 16th, the day on which he began a 15-year rebellion against the English king.
