The British GS (General Service) Bergen Frame & Straps is a set of metal frame and shoulder straps used to support a rucksack. It was issued to all British Army troops in the 1970s and 1980s. It was also used by the SAS and other special forces units. However, it was eventually replaced by the PLCE (Personal Load Carrying Equipment) system, which is a more modern and versatile system.
