Pentax's DCF series of premium roof prism binoculars are available in a few different variants, to suit a particular combination of needs and budgets.
There's the basic DCF , offering just the brilliant optics of the series, in a non-waterproofed package which shaves a bit off of the weight and price. Next is the DCF HR , which adds a sleeker design as well as nitrogen purging, and O-ring seals for totally impervious waterproof and fogproof protection. Then there is the world class DCF WP classic, available in four variants---all of absolutely stunning optical quality, as well as being completely fogproof and waterproof. Building upon the strong foundation established by the rest of the DCF series, the Pentax 10x42 DCF upgrades, updates and introduces several features. Additions include central shaft dioptric correction, silver-deposited roof prisms for improved optical performance, and a new lighter-weight, fiber-reinforced polycarbonate housing. The optical formula of the HRc differs from the HR and now features four elements in three groups---a refinement upon the two-element, one-group design.
Finally, upon the pinnacle rests the flagship of Pentax sport optics: the DCF SP line. These are just a bit bigger than the DCF WP collection, but add some fine tuning, with a spare-no-expense mentality, for those who simply must have ultimate performance and quality.
