This is a Matchbox Lesney Superfast No 73 FORD MODEL A. The Ford Model A Coupe marked a bit of a departure forLesney. Up to now everything had been contemporary, anything historic was dealtwith through the Models of Yesteryear brand where most of the cars were around1:43 scale. Here we have a 1931 Model A Ford in a scale slightly larger thanthe usual 1-75 range but still smaller than MOY. It was introduced into the range in 1979 and was still therewhen the brand collapsed in 1983. The new owners continued to turn out newversions for some years to come. During its Lesney period is managed to losethe wing mounted spare wheel and some of the post-Lesney versions have adistinct Hot Rod feel with oversize wheels on the back. The first releases were cream and later white with darkgreen wings, some of these have glass, some do not and it was during thisperiod that the spare wheel went missing. Next we have the two-tone green from1980-1982, the final Lesney version being two-tone brown. Model Condition: Original - Mint - Paintwork is lovely body trim. Axles and wheels are excellent. A lovely model on display. Box Condition: Original -fair but used - Complete with all flaps. There is No pen marks or old labels on the box (r14) This is a super model with its original box.
