Is this part compatible your car?

Please note that the compatibility table is for guidance only and does not guarantee that this part fits your car. Car makers use different variants of parts for the same vehicle. For example, a Mercedes C-Class W204 model has four different variants of the braking system, which are not interchangeable.

To ensure compatibility, send us the chassis number (VIN) of your car. We will check it against the car maker's parts database. This is the best way to ensure fitment and avoid the disappointment of receiving parts that do not fit your car. Additionally, you can check the original part number from your car and compare it with the OE reference number provided in the description.

Seat Occupancy Mat Diagnostic Emulator for Mercedes-Benz G-Class W463 (2001-2008)

ABOUT THE ITEM

Reference number in our online shop: BLV2W639

The emulator is a diagnostic device designed to verify the correctness of the car's electrical installation and to determine whether the SRS/Airbag warning in your car is triggered by a defective seat mat sensor. The emulator sends a signal of occupied seat which simulates a situation where a person is sitting in the passenger seat. To make the emulator work, you need a diagnostic scanner (such as Autel, Bosch, iCarsoft, etc.) to remove the old fault code of a defective seat mat that is stored in the ECU. Once you connect the emulator, your diagnostic scanner will be able to remove old errors and turn off the SRS/Airbag warning. The emulator is intended for diagnostic use only. The emulator is not a factory device. It should not be used as a substitute for an original sensor. After performing the diagnosis, you should disconnect the emulator and reconnect the original sensor.

The seat occupancy mat is a sensor installed in the front passenger seat. The other names of the seat mat sensor are: "Automatic Child Seat Recognition", "AKSE", "Component B48", "Front Passenger Seat Occupied and Child Seat Recognition", "SA Code U18", "9025". The SRS (Supplemental Restraint System) is a system that includes airbags and multiple sensors distributed in the seats and throughout the car which can turn on the SRS/Airbag warning. The seat mat sensor is one of many sensors that can turn on the SRS/Airbag warning when it is defective.

This offer includes:
- Seat mat emulator and seat belt buckle emulator built into a small box (dimensions: 3 x 2 x 1.5 cm);
- Detailed installation manual (included with the emulator);
- Our technical support until the problem is resolved;
- 24-month warranty.

FOR FOLLOWING CARS:

Mercedes-Benz cars with a seat mat connector with 3 pin holes and 3 wires in colors: brown, red, white. Please check your seat mat connector and compare it with the photos or contact us before purchase if you are not sure how to find the correct connector. This emulator will not work with seat mats with 2 or 4 wires.

Important information

• Before making a purchase, scan your car using an OBD diagnostic scanner (such as Autel, Delphi, iCarsoft, etc.) to confirm that the SRS/Airbag warning in your car is caused by defective seat mat. The SRS/airbag warning can be activated by at least 5 sensors within the passenger seat and numerous other sensors throughout the vehicle. If the SRS/Airbag warning light is caused by a faulty seat mat, your diagnostic scanner will be able to turn it off after the emulator's installation. The SRS/Airbag warning light will persist if the problem in your car is caused by a different sensor. After performing the diagnosis, you should disconnect the emulator and reconnect the original sensor.

• The emulator is safe for your car's electrical system and does not require cutting and soldering wires. After connecting it, you can disconnect it from your car at any time and safely reconnect the original sensor, restoring the electrical system to its original state. Do NOT cut the wires! The emulator will not work with cut wires.

• The emulator will not work if your OBD diagnostic scanner shows problems with the SRS/Airbag Control Unit (Module N2/7). The seat mat sensor is connected to the Control Unit so when the Control Unit does not work, then the seat mat does not work as well. In most situations the original seat mat is not defective. You just need to fix a problem with the Control Unit to restore functionality of the seat mat sensor. Please contact us before purchasing for additional assistance.

• The emulator might not work if the diagnostic scanner shows a fault code that states "seat occupancy mat - an internal component fault" or "seat occupancy mat - wrong coding". These fault codes usually indicate problems with the SRS/Airbag Control Unit, not the seat mat sensor. Please contact us before purchasing to verify this problem.

• Never disconnect the battery to clear the warnings, fault codes or to connect the emulator. The SRS/Airbag Control Unit usually loses its settings after disconnecting the battery, and it will require restoring the settings to the original state (which is not easy). If the SRS/Airbag warning in your car has appeared after a problem with a discharged battery or a weak battery, we recommend that you contact us before placing an order. We will guide you how to solve this problem.

I have the SRS/Airbag warning or Front Seat Malfuction. What should I do first?

Scan your car with an OBD diagnostic scanner to check which sensor is responsible for the warning. These warnings are NOT always an indication that the problem is caused by a defective seat mat. Mercedes installs at least 5 sensors in the passenger seat and many more sensors in other sections of the car that can cause the SRS/Airbag or Seat Malfunction warning. For example the warning might be also caused by a problem with: SRS/Airbag Control Unit, Collision Sensor, seat belt pretensioner, seat belt buckle sensor, ignition squib, etc.

The most common diagnostic fault code for the defective seat mat are "Component B48 - front passenger seat occupied sensor is faulty", "LIN Bus 1 is faulty", or "9025", but these codes and descriptions may differ depending on the diagnostic scanner you are using. You can take a photo of the fault code and its full description that appears in your diagnostic scanner and send it to us for verification. We will check it and let you know.

EMULATOR INSTALLATION:

1. Disconnect the seat mat sensor and connect the emulator. Turn on the engine and check if the LED light on the emulator flashes in two colors different colors (usually blue an green).

2. Connect a diagnostic scanner (e.g. Autel, Delphi, iCarsoft, Xentry, INPA, etc.) to the car's OBD port located under the steering wheel and remove the old DTC fault code of the defective seat mat from the SRS/Airbag Control Unit.

3. Now scan the new fault codes to check if the defective seat mat fault code has disappeared for good or reappeared. The SRS/Airbag warning should be turned off when the fault code is cleared. This is an indication that the problem in your car is caused by a defective seat mat.

4. After successfull diagnose of the problem disconnect the emulator and re-connect the seat mat sensor.

Detailed installation instruction will be included with the emulator. Please contact us in case of any problems. We will help you.

Please, do not use Carly or cheap diagnostic scanners. In most cases they can read the fault codes from the SRS/Airbag Control Unit, but are not able to clear them so you will not know if the problem in your car comes from the defective seat mat. If, after connecting the emulator, the fault code status changes from "Current & Stored" to "Stored" (meaning the problem is historic) and you are not able to clear the fault code then you need to use a different scanner because your scanner is not able to clear the fault code.

The fault code disappeared but the SRS/Airbag light is still present and now it is flashing. What should I do?
It means that the SRS/Airbag Control Unit is unlocked and needs to be locked by doing an Initial Startup procedure. The control unit sometimes unlocks itself when there is a problem with the SRS system (like a defective seat mat sensor). The warning light will be turned off once you perform the Initial Startup in your diagnostic scanner and lock the control unit.

LEGAL NOTICE / REMINDER

The emulator is intended for diagnostic use only. It is a diagnostic device designed to verify the correctness of the car's electrical installation and to determine whether the SRS/Airbag warning in your car is triggered by a defective seat mat sensor. The emulator is not a factory device or a substitute for the original sensor. After performing the diagnosis, you should disconnect the emulator and reconnect the original sensor. In the event of an accident, the passenger airbag will ALWAYS deploy (with or without a passenger in the seat) if the emulator is connected. Do not place a child seat on the front passenger seat! We strongly advise informing all users of the vehicle about the presence of the emulator. Ensure that fitting this emulator for diagnostic purposes does not violate any laws in your country. By making a purchase, you agree that we are not liable for any damages or losses that may arise from the use of the emulator, and we are not responsible for any issues with your airbag system. We are not responsible for direct or indirect damage or injury caused by improper use of the device.

5. Buyer returns the order on his expense. Unless the item is defective or there was something wrong on our side - in that situation you may qualify for a pre-paid label.
6. All returned items are verified before refunds are given. If the buyer selected a wrong reason of return on purpose just to receive a pre-paid return label then we will deduct the return shipping cost from the refund and we will report that situation to the eBay Customer Support.
7. Once the return arrives to our warehouse we will process the refund or exchange within 2 working days. We do not accept COD returns.
8. Refusal to collect the parcel, failure to collect the parcel on time or failure to deliver the parcel due to the incorrect address provided by the customer in the order is NOT considered as a return of the order. In such situations, our company is charged by the carrier for return. The return shipping cost is higher than the cost of shipping to the customer. In this case, the amount of the refund will be reduced by the costs of return, which we have been charged by the carrier.
