Description

Made in 1930, this Triolian has a steel body with a swampy sound and is popular with bluesmen.

This is one of our U.S. purchases.

Not only the body but also the cone cover is made of steel, and it has a deep sound that is different from bright brass-body resonators.

Overall, there are some scratches, scuffs, and paint chips, and it is not a beauty, but it has been set up to be easy to play.

The price of a Triorian is rising, but this one is inexpensive because it has been modified to have a truss rod installed afterwards.

The truss rod was done by an old-time professional, who removed the fingerboard, installed it, and put the fingerboard back on again, so it is not visible. The truss rod itself works fine (but not that well).

The other pegs have been replaced, the truss rod cover has been retrofitted, and the strap pins have been added, but otherwise the instrument remains original.

The cones are in good condition, and even though it is a vintage sound, it is still very loud. No unnatural vibrations can be felt.

The neck shows some warping, but can be played without any problems, set at about 2.8mm on the 1st string 12F and about 3.3mm on the 6th string 12F.

The frets are around 80% remaining.

This is one that is easy to play, not only with the slide, but also when used with normal pressure.

Triorians are few in number and hard to find at this price.

Don't miss it.
