At 12 1/2" in length and 10" in width, this is one of the larger Victorian pattern glass commemorative bread platters or trays. With its intaglio depictions of three presidents (Garfield, Washington and Lincoln) very well done in large medallions across the plate's center, this would have been kept displayed as a proud reminder of important events in the minds of post-antebellum Americans. The large top motto, "In Remembrance" and then the subtitle, "God Reigns - First in Peace Charity for All" would have been a patriotic call to nationalism.
As with EAPG, depression and vintage glass, there may be
slight 'character' marks, bubbles, ripples and mold marks on bottoms or sides
from the original mold and/or production process.
