The Goebel company was founded in 1871 by Franz Detleff and Wilhelm Goebel.
Oeslauer Porzellan Manufactur (OPM) was the original Goebel factory
which opened in 1878 in Oeslau-Rodental near Coburg, Germany.
In 1893 Wilhelm Goebel took sole control of the company.
Until 1972 the company's copyright stamp included "by W. Goebel".
The Olesauer references in the backstamps of our collection of
Goebel "Wallis" dishes refer to the original Goebel factory and
reflect the company's emphasis on its history on its 100th anniversary in 1971.
The dishes in our collection in have 5 different marks from the 1970s from both
before and after "by W. Goebel" disappeared from the copyright mark in 1972.
All of the marks have the Goebel "Stylized Bee" symbol which was
included in the company backstamps from 1960 to 1979.
