Sony flagship DVD player DVP-S7000 Japanese version.  This is Sony’s first generation reference DVD player with dual discrete optical pickups (650nm for DVD and 780nm for CD/VCD), separate audio/video power supply, digital noise reduction circuitry, full feed forward digital filter, and pulse current D/A converter.  Although it is more than 10 years old and only outputs 480i, it still outperforms most progressive scan players on the market today even its own sibling S7700.

This is the champagne color edition released for the Japanese domestic market.  Player is region 2 and can only playback DVD discs of NTSC format (not PAL or SECAM format).  The picture quality of this player is still considered one of the best even by today's standards.  The color is faithfully natural with well-balanced skin tone.  The picture is ultra clear with excellent detail.  The rigid chassis and honeycomb transport damper effectively reduce vibrations to provide a stable and precise optical performance.  Unlike its successor S7700, the S7000 does not suffer from the infamous chroma upsampling error, aka chroma bug.  The chroma bug may not be readily noticeable for some people but once it is discovered or when viewed on a large screen it can be very annoying.  Search "dvd benchmark cue volume 8 player list" to see a list of DVD players with and without the chroma bug.

The S7000 has a superb audio circuitry that most audiophile would use it exclusively as a CD player or a stand alone transport.  The audio board on this machine is independent and is logical for easy DIY upgrades.  There is an extra set of RCA output as well as a digital coaxial and Toslink outputs.  Please note that the S7000 supports CD-R and some DVD+R discs but does not playback DVD-R discs.

This unit was purchased brand new in 1999 in Japan for my personal collection.  The total operating time on this machine is less than 2 hours.  I literally just tested it with a couple of CDs and DVDs and then put it back in the box.  It's in brand new condition.  Comes with original desktop remote and owners manual.  Please note that this is the Japanese version that operates on 100V AC.  You will need a 120V to 100V step-down voltage converter to properly power this unit in the North America.  Will double box it in a strong, double-walled corrugated box and ship fully insured.  Stock photo shown as unit is in pristine condition there are no blemishes to disclose.  Feel free to email me if you have any questions.  Good luck!
