Art of Rug Weaving was brought to Kashmir in fourteenth century by Islamic preachers from Persia.The art flourished under different rulers and kings ultimately gained an independent identity. Kashmir became the hub of Carpet trade in silk route era.

These Rug are natively called "Jalakdozi" .These rugs are hand made on thick "Hessain base "or "cotton fabric " in continued stitch with wool or Silk yarn pile, with help of tool called " Aurah ".The rug has Wool pile on a cotton base.The colour used are derived from the plants.This rug is ideal for heavy traffic.
