Pair of beautiful repoussé brass andirons featuring 17” winged griffins seated on an ornate platform. Although I cannot certify these as originals from the 1880s, they are the correct size, and appear to be made by repoussé (hammering sheet brass from the back side against a mold) rather than casting (as are most reproductions). The brass is 2.5-4 mm (.1-.15 in) thick in most places. The iron log support pieces are in excellent shape, and may have been replaced at some point.
Measurements: Brass parts are 16-3/4" tall, 11" wide, 4" deep. With the cast iron log supports attached, the depth is 19".
I will ship with the cast iron log supports removed, so minor reassembly will be required.
