The TD-50X is Roland's most advanced V-Drums sound module, with over 900 new voices and full support for the revolutionary Digital Snare, Digital Ride and Digital Hi-Hat. Three digital pad inputs are provided, as well as a wide range of analog trigger inputs. Various editing tools make it easy to build your own original sound, while a wide range of professional connections allow you to do virtually anything you want to do with your music, from recording to full-scale live performance.

*TD-50X has a total of 14 channels of trigger inputs, shared between digital and analog. When a digital pad is assigned to a particular note, it takes precedence over the analog inputs.

The TD-50X's Prismatic Sound Modeling technology combines advanced motion modeling techniques developed over decades with multi-layered sound samples to reach the ultimate in electronic drumming.

Inspired by a prism that refracts a single light source into all colors, our innovative approach is synonymous with generating a variety of colorful sounds from a single note emitted from a stick. As with acoustic drums, differences in the way they are played are instantly translated into differences in sound, allowing for complete immersion in drum playing and no limits to its performance expression.

A Revolution in Electronic Drums: Roland Digital Pads

The TD-50X features three USB trigger inputs for Roland digital pads, allowing you to take full advantage of the enormous expressive potential of Prismatic Sound Modeling technology. The multi-sensor detection system for snare, ride, and hi-hat works with the TD-50X's ultra-fast processing to let you experience the nuances and details of acoustic drums. You can mute the ride with a light hand, switch freely between head, rim shot, and cross-stick playing on the snare, and perform all playing techniques seamlessly. The game changer, the VH-14D, also offers a level of touch sensitivity, tone variation, and open/close resolution that no previous electronic hi-hat has been able to achieve in the past.

Imagine acoustic drums set up, miked, and sound-processed in a world-class studio, and the TD-50X's preset tones instantly bring these sounds to life. Built-in kits, created with top drummers and recording engineers, cover a wide range of musical genres from traditional jazz to metal, and can call up any drum style at the push of a button.

Create your own drum kits

In addition to presets, the TD-50X allows for sound customization just like acoustic drums. You can quickly adjust tuning and muffling, or build a drum kit from scratch with deeper settings for shell size, head type, cymbal characteristics, and more. You can also set up your kit in a virtual space of your choice with room types for reverberation, other parameters, and pure acoustic ambience.

Build Your Sound with Recording Studio Precision

Once you've fine-tuned your kit, use the built-in studio tools to make it sound even more raw. You can position the overhead microphones and room microphones for each pad, and build up your tone with equalizers and compressors. Of course, you can also take advantage of high-quality reverbs and multi-effects.

Sound Creation in the PA

When playing electronic drums, it is very important that the kit sound be processed by the PA, and the TD-50X has 10 assignable balanced output channels, with or without effects, to send the engineer the drum sound he needs. The TD-50X can also be easily controlled from the stage by operating the faders on the module. For PC-based music production, up to 32 channels of digital audio and MIDI can be sent via USB.

As a Practice Tool

The TD-50X sound module also includes a practice section to improve drumming technique. You can use the built-in metronome, Coach Mode exercises, or play along with music played from your smartphone or laptop.

A recorder allows you to capture any part of your performance and share the data with others via audio export.

In addition, the Medolics™ desktop app allows you to download 40 free practice songs to expand your practice.

Expandability with Roland Cloud

Subscribe to Roland Cloud to get premium V-Drums sounds and select kits to inspire your creativity. You can try out the expansion kits with the TD-50X Free Pack, available from the Downloads tab. Further expansion kits, the TD-50X Bonus Pack, can be downloaded from the Roland Cloud Manager and installed on your modules. Membership also gives you unlimited access to future expansion kits.
