This item is being sold for the employee holiday fund at the continuing care retirement community (CCRC) in Maine where I live with my husband.  All items are donated by the residents of the community and the net proceeds of all sales go to the fund that is distributed annually to the wonderful employees who help the many elderly residents here.  I will give all the information I can about each item, but I am not the original owner.

I have here a Vintage Maroon Velvet EIN TOSTMANN MODELL Opera Coat Cape with Belt, Lined, 2?, Austrian?  I don’t know who donated this incredible cape so I don’t know it’s age but it is so elegant and so reminiscent of a different time!  It is in beautiful, clean condition - I do not see any signs of wear at all!!

• The tag on the inside says “EIN TOSTMANN MODELL” and then a separate tag, “2”.  I have found other items online with that same tag and they are described as Austrian so perhaps this was made in Austria.  And I assume the “2” is the size (but not sure if it’s a US size 2 as it is much bigger than a current US 2!).
• There are 5 hook and eye closures at the top of the cape to keep it closed (2 right at the neck and then 3 more spaced evenly about 2 ½” apart).
• There are arm slits on either side.
• The inside is lined with an almost rust colored satin (see pics).
• Also included is a velvet belt with a pewter colored metal buckle (the cape can be worn with or without the belt).
• The cape measures 53” from the top of the back of the neck to the bottom back hem.  I am 5’ 6” and about 120 lbs.  The cape comes down below my ankles and nearly touches the top of my feet.  The shoulders are also quite wide for me (although I could  certainly wear but I think it looks big on me).  I am a size 4 to 6; so my best guess is that this would be today’s size 10 but that is just a guess. 

You will need to see the pics to see what this gorgeous cape/coat looks like – truly spectacular!!  I do hope someone can use it!!
