There is pencil handwriting on the back, we can only make out some of it: "_____ von Oldenburg __ ____ Oldenburg." Size: Approximately 37/8 x 2 3/8 inches. Condition: Photo - Soiling. Mount - Trimmed. A couple of scuff marks and a pinhole at top. Pinhole at bottom. Front has soiling. Back has spots and some soiling. Appearance: Rich tones.
2) Laundress, female occupational. On back: "27. Blanchisseuse. W. HAMMSRSCHMIDT CAIRE d'Egypte BERLIN Neu Schoneberg No 1a." There is pencil handwriting on the back, we can only make out the date: "1869 - " Size: Approximately 4 x 2 7/16 inches. Condition: Photo - Some soiling and foxing. Mount - Front has light soiling and foxing. Back has soiling. Appearance: Rich tones.
3) Frankfurt. On front of mount, left side: "FRANKFURT." On front of mount, at right side: "40. Mainquai." Backmark: "F. FRIDRICH K. Pr. Hofphotograph PRAG Verleger." There is handwriting on the back: "June 18th 1873." Size: Approximately 2 1/2 x 4 inches. Condition: Photo - Some foxing in sky. Spots and specks in water. Mount - Wear at 3 corners and along top edge. Light wear at 1 corner and at bottom edge. Some soiling and a spot from foxing on back. Appearance: Rich tones. Excellent depth of field.
4) Montage of German poets/writers. Names are on or next to each portrait: Chamisso, Borne, Ruckert, Jean Paul, Freiligrath, Uhland, Lenau, H. Heine, Korner. At bottom of photo: "DEUTSCHE CLASSIKER II." Size: Approximately 3 11/16 x 2 1/2 inches. Condition: Photo - Some tiny spots on border. Mount - Trimmed. Clipped corners. Wear at lower left. Front and back have light soiling. Appearance: Rich tones.
5) Emperor William I. On front of mount, below lower left of photo: "Numa Blanc & Cie." Backmark: "NUMA BLANC & CIE PHOTOGRAPHES de S. M. LE ROI DE PRUSSE 29, Boulevard des Italiens PARIS Bains Stephanie BADE." There is pencil handwriting on the front of the mount: "Emperor Wiliam 1st." There is pencil handwriting on te back of the mount: "King of Prussia." Size: Approximately 4 x 2 3/8 inches. Condition: Photo - Spots and soiling. Mount - Some wear at corners. Front and back have soiling and heavy foxing. Appearance: Rich tones.
6) Heidelburg. Backmark: "FRANZ RICHARD HOF PHOTOGR HEIDELBERG."There is pencil handwriting on the front of the mount, right side: "Heidelberg." Size: Approximately 2 7/16 x 3 3/4 inches. Condition: Photo - Spot at upper right. Mount - Trimmed. Wear at 3 corners. Front has soiling. Back has light soiling. Appearance: Very good tones and details.
7) Gustav Freytag, novelist and playwright. On front, at bottom of mount: "AUG. LINDE GOTHA." Backmark: "AUG. LINDE Hof - Photograph GOTHA August-Strasse No 3." There is handwriting on the back: "Gustav Freytag." Size: Approximately 3 15/16 x 2 7/16 inches. Condition: Photo - Mottled with dark splotches. Mount - Light wear at corners. Front and back have soiling. Appearance: Very good tones.
8) Theodor Wachtel. On front, at bottom of mount: "HERRMANN LEVINTHAL PHOT. BERLIN." Backmark: "HERRMAN LEVINTHAL Hofphotograph Sr. Konig L. Hoheit des Fursten zu Hohenzollern Sigmarigen BERLIN Jerusalemer - Str. 23. Ecke der Krossen Str." There is pencil handwriting on the back: "___ Wachtel Dresden Och - 1867" and "Herr Wachtel Theodore." Size: Approximately 37/8 x 2 3/8 inches. Condition: Photo - Soiling and foxing.
