The AK 70 MKII supports PCM playback up to 384 kHz/32 bit and DSD 128 (5.6 MHz/1 bit). (PCM native recalibration up to 192 kHz/24 bit; 352.8 kHz down to 176.4 kHz; 384 kHz down to 192 kHz; 32 bit down to 24 bit; DSD converted to PCM 176.4 kHz/24 bit)
For the D/A conversion, which is the cornerstone of sound quality, the CS 4398 24 bit DAC made by Cirrus Logic, which is well known for its use in high-end audio equipment, is installed in a dual configuration. In addition to the normal earphone connection terminal with improved sound quality, the high output balance connection terminal (2.5 mm/4 poles) is also compatible. The amplifier circuit that takes full advantage of the performance of the dual DAC further improves the sound quality of the unbalanced connection compared to the previous model AK 70. It achieves overwhelmingly high output, improved L/R separation, improved S/N ratio, and reduced distortion. The amplifier section follows the design philosophy of the AK 4th generation flagship model A & ultima SP 1000. Astell & Kern's unique amplifier circuit outputs the high-precision signal output from the DAC to earphones and headphones with the full DAC performance.
