This 1985 wood carving (talla de madera) of Puerto Rico's Gov. Rafael Hernandez Colon is in very good condition and has never been used. It has no holes, flaking or warping. Wood and paint are detailed and smooth.
It was made by Jose Negron, who signed it on the bottom (See photo).

Hernandez Colon was the fourth governor under Puerto Rico's Commonweath status and the youngest ever elected at age 36. He served from 1973-77, 1985-89 and 1989-93. A lawyer by profession, he also served as President of the Senate of Puerto Rico. Opposed to statehood for Puerto Rico, he was an ardent supporter of the island's current Commonweath status. He died in 2019.
