About this Item
Richard Geis. A personal journal, issues 1 (January 1975, 2 (15 February 1975) and 3 (29 March 1975). Consisting of 10, 10 and 8 pages respectively. An intensely personal journal. ===== In issue 1 Geis deals with the death of his mother, the funeral arrangements and the immense sense of loss that inevitably follows and never quite goes away. He offers a swift glance into "philandering for fan publishers and porn book professionals". He ponders the temptation#s and advantages of the gay life, abreacts with a quick spot of moaning about politics and his malfunctioning Gestetner, denounces the movie, Electra Glide in Blue and provides short fiction by the author A.L. Terego ("Masters of Death"). ===== Issue 2 is largely about his romatic relationships, how to pursue them and where to find willing partners. There is banging in the background, medical notes about haart attacks and the wisdom that it is better to have a car with too powerful an engine rather than one with an underpowered one. There's a close encounter with a closet queen, and there is bitching about the economy and the government and more. ===== Issue 3. There are more closet queen moments, interesting thoughts about the J.F. Kennedy assassination, the joy or misery of food stamps in America, an exression of disdain for local government edicts and more. ===== It is impossible to distill Geis's musings into an easiy digestible format, to give them the credit they deserve. He is, at best, intriguing, interesting, mildly shockig, and at worst controversial. But he is good to read. The three copies are in truly fine condition, each bearing on the final page the address of the UK recipient to whom they were sent and the one or two old American postage stamps it cost to ship them across the Atlantic. Very rare, as they were by subsciption only and had a small print-run. ADULTS ONLY
