DESCRIPTION

Russ Case And His Orchestra - “Dances Wild” Vik Records LX-1085 (Mono) from 1957. Hard to Find First Pressing Deep Groove Exotica / Bachelor Pad / Space Age Pop / Jazz album from Russ Case and his Orchestra featuring Milt Hinton, Cozy Cole, Mundell Lowe, Barry Galbraith, George Barnes and more. Mostly Groovy versions of Classical and Opera themes but includes tunes by Raymond Scott, Nacio Herb Brown and Ernesto Lecuona as well. On the Deep Groove Black with Silver Print Vik labels and in the Original Cheesecake / Nude Sleeve with no Promo markings, Cutouts or Barcode.

CONDITION

The Sleeve is in good shape. There is some fairly slight shelf wear and corner softening/wear. There are a few little pinholes in the upper left corner? There is a tiny black ink dot in the upper right corner. There is some cracking on the upper part of the spine but not really split. There is a bit of “age spotting” on the back. Still nice and solid with no cutouts, splits, stains, writing, tears, etc. and would rate VG. The Vinyl itself is in clean Glossy condition looking lightly played. If you look closely you can spot some light scuffs and faint hairlines - no actual scratches i.e. something you can feel with a fingernail. A strong VG and really probably VG+ visually but plays at least VG+ to EX or better all through with just little hints of groove noise in spots - may well be improved with a better cleaning than I can give with my Discwasher brush. The labels are Near Mint.

TERMS AND DEFINITIONS

Records are graded to the best of my ability to Goldmine Visual standards. If I provide Play Grades it is done as a courtesy but I only guarantee the Visual Grade. If you are not familiar with this grading system (or even if you think you are!), please check it out before bidding. I have summarized the important (i.e. I think everyone knows what Mint means) points below in Goldmine's words:

Very Good Plus (VG+): Record surfaces may show some slight signs of wear and may have slight scuffs or very light scratches that don't affect one's listening experience. Slight warps that do not affect the sound are OK.

Very Good (VG): Surface noise will be evident upon playing,... Groove wear will start to be noticeable, as will light scratches (deep enough to feel with a fingernail) that will affect the sound.

I stand by my grades but would like us to be on the same page so no problems arise. I have been selling Vintage Vinyl for over twenty years on the net and I can count the returns I've had on one hand so I believe my grading is fair and accurate. One important note, I try to grade to these Goldmine guides as best as I can understand and apply them. This gives us both a written standard to go by rather than having to guess. But.... it also means that I don't issue refunds over differences of opinion in grading i.e. "That's not MY idea of a VG record!" - I don't know what your standards are and, as such, can't grade to them. I guarantee that items I sell will meet my description, nothing more or less! If you are not satisfied that a purchase meets my description, I will do what I can to make it right if you give me the chance and work with me! Please feel free to check my feedback.
