ROYAL DOULTON “JESSE OWENS” LARGE CHARACTER JUG WITH COA - D7019.

 

Offered for sale is this charming Royal Doulton Character Jug in the form of  Jesse Owens. It was modelled by Stanley James Taylor with the handle cleverly formed as the US flag and Olympic torch.

 

This jug was issued as the Character Jug of the Year 1996, to commemorate both the Olympic Games in Atlanta Georgia, and the first Afro American to win a gold medal in the Olympic Games. It comes with a Certificate of Authenticity which is a little out of shape as it has been kept inside the jug.

 

It is approx. 7.25 inches tall, and is offered for sale in very good condition with no chips or cracks.

 

It is fully marked on the base with the Royal Doulton stamp, and the reference number D7019.
