This has been restored.  It is in beautiful condition. They did a gloss finish varnish but did not do a gloss finish on the seat itself.  Not sure if they were concerned with it becoming slippery when seated or just wanted an easy clean on the legs.  Someone could easily put a gloss varnish on the seat if desired but looks amazing as it is.  Hard to find one this age, in this condition!

down position is 18 3/4 inches tall

the legs measure 14 inches "claw to claw"

this was purchased from a wealthy estate and has been well cared for
