"Vue de L'Ecole Militaire."
A genuine antique engraving of the Military Academy in Paris. Situated near the Eiffel Tower, the large collection of buildings that make up the Academy was founded in 1750 by Louis XV.

This print is a vue d'optique: the long perspective was designed to be viewed through a zograscope, which added an almost 3D quality to the image. Even without this device, it makes for a superb image, with very attractive handcolouring. It was published by Basset, whose imprint bottom left gives his address as "Rue St. Jacques, no. 64."

Size: the sheet measures 54.5cms x 34.5cms.
Condition: A large sheet with generous margins, in good condition apart from a few tiny areas of loss around the very edges, and a faint vertical crease towards the right-hand side. Please study the photographs.

Postage: £4.75 within the UK, sent by a courier service. £11.00 to Europe, £18.00 to USA etc.
