The US Army pistol belt of WW2 proved so versatile that it became the basis of the new web gear introduced in the 1950s and 1960s. The M-1956 pistol belt was constructed of 100% cotton webbing and could carry any ammo pouch in the military. Of course, its grommets would accomodate any other web gear item with hanging loops. It was widely used in the Vietnam war by US, Australia and NZ troops as the standard pistol belt.
