An original 1939 Black Watch Other Ranks Military Horsehair Sporran. The sporran bears a white metal emblem of St. Andrew and the Cross in a thistle wreath on a black leather cantle. Black horsehair with twowhite horsehair tassels, brown leather pouch on the back. Maker's mark on the reverse "J.G.Stevenson Glasgow" and the date "1939". Hand written on the reverse: "23930694", "DMR. D. ESPIN. P/O" and "Espin". Cantle is 6.5 X 3.5 inches. Pouch is 6.5 X 8.75 inches. Overall length is 16.5 inches. Very good condition.
