SURRY

A original , antique county map published by Robert Butters (( a Fleet Street printer)in
"An Atlas of England "
in 1803.
The maps from this series were based on John Cary's "The Travellers Companion " and became known as the "Upside- down series"  as many of the maps were engraved variously orientated with North either to top, left, right or bottom of the page. This map of Surrey is engraved with North orientated to the right .

Very few publications of this atlas were made and hence examples are quite scarce.

With original hand colouring, without folds, blank verso.
The map is in fine, unmarked condition .

Measuring approx. 7" x 4" ( 180mm x 100mm) overall.
